Pierre Michaux, born in 1813, was one of many inventors that created themselves as the original inventor of the bicycle. Together with his son Ernest and partner Pierre Lallement they successfully made a first working prototype of the bicycle. The original design, called the "boneshaker", was made from wood and included the first pedal system. Michaux never received full recognition for recreating the first bicycle design incorporating the pedals until after his death.
